By definition, the word ambiguous means open to two or more interpretations.
Such is the case for certain solutions when working with the Law of Sines. Law of Sines has a problem dealing with SSA. If you are given two sides and one angle (where you must find an angle), the Law of Sines could possibly provide you with one or more solutions, or even no solution. 1. They can be solved multiple ways and have multiple solutions 2. You can't use the law of sins because that would only solve one triangle. SSA I could not get this to post on to my blog so i emailed it to you!
In this activity i learned lots of new things, like when trying to determine your reference angle you always use the x-axis. My biggest take away was finally understanding how you can use the unit circle to plot the points on a regular graph. A big connection that i made on this activity was using the line graph to determine where the right points on the unit circle were. This activity for sure helped me to understand the correlation between the two. It also helped me to become more comfortable when solving these types of problems. I have to admit i was not a fan of not being able to have the answer confirmed (especially when you kept making faces every time we would give an answer) i was fairly confident with my answers but having someone watch made it more nerve-racking.
Sin:
Period; 2pi Amplitude; 1 Cos: Period: 2pi Amplitude: 1 Tan: Period: pi Amplitude: Infinity Csc: Period: pi/2 Amplitude: infinity Sec: Period: 2pi Amplitude: infinity Cot: Period: pi Amplitude: infinity The Sin and Cos graphs are the same except for the starting point on the graphs y axis. The Sin graph will always start at (0,0). Vertical asymptote: The equation to find CSC, SEC, and COT are all 1 over the original equation (sin, cos, tan) whenever there is a 0 in the denominator that point will be an asmyptote. The equation to find tan is sin/ cos, so whenever cos is equal to 0 the point will be an asymptote. Radian: a unit of angle, equal to an angle at the center of a circle whose arc is equal in length to the radius.
Explanation: The radian is basically the angle measure, and the angle measurement in radians is equal to the arc length. Unit circle and radians both show the angle measures, in radian and degree terms. The equation for circumference is C= 2(3.14)r, the whole distance around a circle is 2(3.14) They are the same thing. Radians and Degrees are interchangeable, you can convert them into each other easily. I prefer degrees because by looking at the degree i can tell how much of the circle it will take up. When i look at Radians i have to use my unit circle, however i think Radians are much more pure because they are going to be a more precise number. Part 1
