Even and odd functions are very similar, they both have degrees but this activity was to determine if the degree was even or odd, not based on the exponent. To figure out the degree of a function you can either look at the highest exponent or the degree is even or odd. However sometimes that doesnt work, when that happens you have to plug random numbers in the equation using f(x) and f(-x). If you get two positive solutions you know that it even equation, and when you get a positive and a negative you know the function is odd. I believe this works because you can change the degrees of any equation. I still don't understand if the degree is odd you would solve by plugging in numbers even when it doesn't work out.
